Anti-civil rights v. Pro-civil rights

Anti-civil right: Anti-civil right's are events that are held or done that are against the pro movement.
MLK was assassination- A leader in the pro-civil right movement was shot and killed on April 4,1968. He was rushed from the hotel where he was staying to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Malcolm X was assassination- Malcolm X was also an advocate for the pro-civil rights movement. He viewed a little different than MLK, he believed in violence.He was also struck down and killed February 24, 1965 in NY.
The watts riot- The riot started when two brothers were pulled by an officer in which turned into a scuffle and the officer use unnecessary force. The riot was in LA. By the end of this riot which lasted 6 days ended in 34 deaths,1,032 injuries and 4,000 people arrested. This event cost the city of LA $40 million dollars in damages.
The little rock nine- This event was about 9 individuals who enrolled at a all white high school in AR. They of course were meet with opposition.
Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated- Was a senator for the United States and who also won the Presidential election against Nixon. His polices closely related to his brothers, John F. Kennedy. He was shot and killed before he could get into his presidency on Nov.22, 1963.

Pro-civil rights:
Civil rights act of 1964 - Its ended segregation in public accommodations.
Voting rights act of 1965- this banned the literacy testes and provided a investigation.
Fair housing act of 1968-prohibited discrimination concerning sale,rental and financing of housing based on race.
Housing and Urban development act of 1968- helps lower income family's obtain housing and encouraged new communities.This is program is federally funded.
Equal employment opportunity commission- The EEOC investigated race related problems in the work force.
