Martin Luther King Jr. was a huge advocate for social justice and the rights of all people regardless of color. In my first year seminar we are currently talking about the rights of people in the United States and the laws and amendments that follow. Mr. king started seeking basic rights and opportunities of any American, he wrote letter to an editor to explain this in 1946. He carried on in college and he received many degrees including sociology and systematic theology. In 1955, Mr. king really started being proactive with his movements. He became president of MIA( Montgomery Improvement Association). After many attempts and movements in 1955, Mr. king started receiving treats and someone tried to assassinate him and his family in 1956. After this incident he pressed even harder for rights until his assassination on April 4,1968.
Mr.kings speeches and legacy carry on 50 years later and will carry on for many more years to come. Lessons he taught 50 years ago still apply today and the march we saw on this day still sends messages around the world for equal opportunity and equal justice!
