Supreme court was established in 1789 under the Judiciary act in 1789. This is the strongest court in the world. They interpret and uphold the constitution and the laws established. Although the constitution is still very confusing and debatable they still follow it closely. John Marshall was the first appointed chief justice. He was appointed by John Adam's in 1801.
There are nine justices that are on the supreme court. They often serve sixteen years but most exceed long after the president that appointed them leaves. It is very rare too get on to the supreme court. One is quoted to say that "being appointed to supreme court is like being struck by lightning."
One of the very first major court case brought to the supreme court is the case of Dred Scott v Sandford.
The question's that are presented for any case is did the lower courts follow what they need to and is the law constitutional ?
