Birmingham,Alabama is one of the most violent and most segregated places in America. Martin Luther King Jr. was determined to end all segregation. He believed that the window to do something was closing and that in order to achieve what the wanted that needed to take action now.
The March on Washington is underway.
Martin Luther King Jr. began "training" people to remain non-violent even after arrested. On May 3,1963 Bull Conner was televised being very aggressive, with dogs drawn on black individuals who were peacefully protesting. after the ruined protest Mr.King made the ultimate decision to march on Washington. When JFK became president Martin Luther King Jr. attempted to draw attention to the race issues but not much was done in Mr.Kings eyes.
The March on Washington officially started on Wednesday, August 28th. It was a march not only for freedom and equality but jobs as well. Mr. King announced throughout the streets that everyone needs to come to Washington. little did everyone know the extent of how many actually came. It was estimated that 250,000 people turned out to protest including many celebrities. The last speech of the protest was Mr.king and his "I have a dream" speech. This was a monumental moment in history which stills stand 50 years later.
